1. Survey Questionnaire


For this assignment, we focused on the questions to be asked for our Google form surveys and our in-depth interviews. With the goal of our project in mind, as well as some of the questions generated by ChatGPT, we initially settled with the questions below for our survey.

  1. What is your age range?

  2. Have you ever purchased cinema tickets through a mobile app?

  3. Which mobile app do you use to purchase movie tickets and what factors do you consider when choosing a movie ticketing app?

  4. What are the factors that influence your decision to purchase movie tickets through a mobile app?

  5. What features are you satisfied with in your current go-to cinema ticketing app?

  6. How easy is it for you to navigate in a movie ticketing app? (user experience)

  7. Have you ever encountered any problems with a movie ticketing app? How was it resolved?

  8. Which payment methods do you typically use when purchasing through a movie ticketing app?

  9. Would you be interested in using a multilingual movie ticketing app?

  10. Are there any additional features that would be beneficial in a movie ticketing app?

These were the questions of our first draft, and during our meeting, we added some questions that we considered necessary, and also took some out, either because they didn’t go hand-in-hand with our project’s direction, or because they could be combined with other questions. We went through each and every question quite thoroughly, because we all agreed that it is very important for surveys to be compact and easily understandable for us to get a significant amount of replies. We also translated the question set into Korean as the majority of the users of currently existing movie-ticketing apps are Koreans, and we also fixated the multiple choice options so that the options were supplementary. 2. In-Depth Interviews


Regarding the in-depth interviews, we have agreed to interview people with varying backgrounds, age groups, interests, etc. Some of our team members had already briefly interviewed people they know. For instance, Pho had interviewed a friend she came across at the student study lounge. The characteristics of this friend as a user were as follows.

  • Foreigner in her 20s

  • Prefers to purchase tickets through the cinema website over using the application, due to downloading and phone storage issues

  • No direct motivation for her to use the application when all purchasing can be done perfectly through the site

Our team member Jaeni also interviewed her Mom, and her characteristics as a user were as follows.

  • Korean in her 50s

  • Downloaded the CGV application and experienced difficulty and frustration in navigating through the app - no clear direction on where ‘mypage’ is, due to absence of navigation bar


Because both of these interviews were done with people who do not frequent the cinema ticketing applications, it was very interesting to hear their perspectives, as they were replies we were not entirely expecting. They provided us with an insight on how our project’s solution will have to be like - to have sufficient motivation for using the app, and to be easily navigable. We will be taking more in-depth interviews, perhaps also with people who have used the existing cinema apps before, to provide our team with more insight and a guideline.


Through our surveys and multiple interviews to come, we will be able to gather more data in which we can closely observe, analyze, and overall contribute to creating a more efficient solution.
